A Prayer to Mother
A prayer to Mother written by Sri Sathya Sai Baba

Mother Sai,
        We are children within Thy womb, As the Mother lovingly bears the hammerings of the embryo, Thou too, in Thy Supreme Patience and Compassion, dost put up with the painful knocks we give Thee by our misdeeds. Thou art the Mother cheerfully doing everything only for our sake, Thy children.
        As Mother Durga, Thou dost drive away our difficulties and protect us;
        As Mother Saraswathy, endowest us with wisdom;
        As Mother Lakshmi, givest us the treasure of wealth in correct measure;
        As Mother Annapoorna, fondly dost feed us

        Even without our entreaties, children what we are, Thou will bless us of thy own accord, with the right things at the right time. However, for our own satisfaction we pray. Pray, feed us with the dishes of devotion for the heart, and victual of wisdom for the brain. Grant us the vision that Thou art the one power immanent everywhere in everything.

Saisa Satkam Mantra

Verse One

Pradosa kala darsanam visala kesa bhusanam
Susantakantapalakam namami sai sankaram
Aneka nama dharinam sanatanatma darsakam
Vinodavisya posakam manobhilasapurakam

I salute Sai Sankara, adorned with majestic hair, who grants His darshan in the auspicious hours of the day, and protects His devotees: who is always serene, who bears many names and leads us to the Eternal Spirit and for whom sustenance of the universe, and fulfillment of our aspirations is a play.

Verse Two

Anantaprema sagaram anantasantidayakam
Nirantaram bhajamyaham krpakaram prabhakaram
Akhanda visvanayakam pracandakarya sadhakam
Acintya jyotirupinam dayadi bhava prerakam

I serve constantly the Lord who is the ocean of infinite love, who showers infinite peace, mercy and light, who is the Lord of the entire universe and achiever of many great tasks and who is the incomprehensive embodiment of light and who inspires in us noble feelings like kindness.

Verse Three

Sudhairyahastasucakam prabhava bhavasthavaram
Tvameva sarva pavanam mamatma sakti karanam
Sakala bhakta palakam sadanukulakarakam
Visalabhava murtitam susila sai cinmayam

I salute the effulgent Lord Sai who grants us courage with an upraised hand, who is the mountain of beneficent influence, who protects His devotees at the appropriate time, grants us favorable situations, and who is the very embodiment of all noble feelings and attributes. O Sai, You are the sole purifier of all and the source of my inner strength.

Verse Four

Pravinavina vainikam prasadasarvaraksakam
Sudharma murti raghavam supavanatma manusam
Survesarammunisvaram mahesvaram saisvaram
Vibhutidhari sundaram yajami tam pratparam

I worship the supreme Lord Sai, whose beautiful form is adorned by the sacred ash, who is the master on vina (musical instrument) and protector of all, and who is Raghava, the embodiment of dharma and the Lord of all angels and sages.

Verse Five

Trilokapujyanayakam vinita bhaktapalakam
Suniti pritidayakam vibhutidana sankaram
Prasanti vasi mohakam susanti marga darsakam
Prakanti sobhitammukham sadakaromi cintanam

I contemplate on Lord Sankara, worthy of adoration by the three worlds, and protector of devotees who bow to Him with humility, the bestower of Love and the sacred ash (vibhutti) who resides in Prasanthi, charms everyone, and leads us to the path of eternal peace, and whose face shines with great effulgence.

Verse Six

Mahagunajna raghavam prasannarupi madhavam
Parantu adya sai nama ekadeva rupinam
Namami partinayakam smarami sirdipalakam
Sadavidhata bhagyatam tvameva sai sundaram

O, beautiful Lord Sai, the bestower of all prosperity, You were the great and virtuous Rhagava, and ever blissful Madhava; but now You embody the one God. I meditate on You, the Lord of Parthi and Shirdi.

Verse One

Sadasatsvarupam cidananda kandam
Jagatsambhavasthana samharahetum
Svabhaktecchayamanusam darsayanam
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor who is the personification of Truth, Awareness and Bliss. He is the great cause for the creation, sustenance and dissolution of the universe. He has taken the human form to fulfill the aspirations of His devotees.

Verse Two
Bhavadhvantavidvamsamartandamidyam
Manovagatitam munirdhyanagamyam
Jagadvyapakam nirmalam nirgunam tvam
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor who is the adorable sun destroying the darkness of birth and death. He cannot be known through mind and words. He is meditated upon by the sages. He is omnipresent in the world. He is pure and devoid of attributes.

Verse Three

Bhavambhodimagnarditanam jananam
Svapadasritanam svabhaktipriyanam
Samudhharanartham kalou sambhavantam
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor who has manifested Himself in this Kaliyug to uplift the devotees who are troubled being drowned in the ocean of birth and death, and who are restored to His Lotus Feet, and who are devoted to Him.

Verse Four

Sada nimbavrksasya muladhivasat
Sudhastravinam tiktamapyapriyam tam
Tarum kalpavrksadhikam sadhayantam
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor, who resides at the base of the neem tree and spreads nectarine joy and who makes that bitter and disliked tree dearer than the wish-fulfilling tree.

Verse Five

Sada kalpavrksasya tasyadhi mule
Bhavadbhavabudhya saparyadisevam
Nrnam kurvatam bhuktimuktipradam tam
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor, who grants affluence in this world and also liberation from bondage to those who worship and serve Him under that tree seeking His divine presence.

Verse Six

Anekasrutatarkyalilavilasaih
Samaviskrtesanabhasvatprabhava
Aham bhavahinam prasannatmabhavam
Namamisvaram sadgurum saintham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor, whose matchless glory founded on His divine prowess glows with lilas, which are unheard of and beyond rational comprehension. He is completely devoid of any sense of ego and exudes infinite inner joy.

Verse Seven

Satam visramaramamevabhiramam
Sada sajjanaih samstutam sannamadbhih
Janamodadam bhaktabhadrapradam tam
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor, with the most charming and delightful form. His divine shelter is the resting place that removes the tiresomeness of all good people who adore Him with devotion. He grants joy, auspiciousness and protection to the devotees.

Verse Eight
Ajanmadyamekam param brahma saksat
Svayam sambhavam ramamevavatirnam
Bhavaddarsanatsampunitah prabho ham
Namamisvaram sadgurum sainatham

I salute Lord Sainatha, the great preceptor, who is the very embodiment of the highest divine principle 'Brahma' and who knows no birth nor death (He who has no beginning or no end). He has come down to earth by his self-will as the very manifestation of Rama. O Lord, I am completely sanctified by your divine glance.

218: Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Astottara Shatha Namavali

This is a garland of 108 sacred names in praise of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, each describing one of His countless Divine attributes and powers.
Each of these 108 sacred names begins with AUM SRI SAI and ends with the word NAMAHA, what does these four words signify?
AUM
The chanting of each names starts with Aum which is the primordial sound from which the whole creation has emerged. All the sounds in the Universe are only waves or vibrations of this primeval sound which is therefore, considered most sacred. For the same reason, Aum represents and also symbolises the Brahman or the all-pervading Supreme Cosmic Consciousness itself. It is called 'Pranava mantra', Sacred syllable having spiritual significance and power.
SRI
'Sri' signifies the subtle beauty, charm and grace of auspiciousness embedded in the Divine. It also stands for the radiance of spiritual manifestation and power in any particular deity - goddess or god.
SAI
'Sai' is the composite form of 'Sa' indicating Sarveshwara the creator or Father of Creation and 'Ayi' indicating Shakti or the creative Energy or the Mother of creation. Thus, Sai is the embodiment of our Divine Father as well as Mother looking after our material welfare as well as our spiritual progress towards realizing the truth of our own divinity.
NAMAHA
In common parlance, Namaha means 'my salutation or namaskaram'. Namaha has also a deeper significance, which is more relevant in these sacred names all of which end with this word. 'Na' means no, not, or nil. 'Ma' signifies delusion which makes one identify himself with the inert body (Ego) and, thereby, subjects him to ignorance, misery and death. 'Namaha', thus, signifies the surrender of one's ego to the - Omnipresent, Omniscient and Omnipotent God in recognition of the truth that we are also a part of that supreme reality. Each of these sacred names, therefore, ends in a note of reverence, salutations and surrender.
Thus 'AUM SRI SAI', at the beginning of each name is intended to elevate our vision to the sublime glory of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai while 'Namaha' at the end of each name serves to awaken in us a spirit of reverence, humility and self-surrender to the Avatar of this Age. It is in this spirit that we have to chant each of the line in the following Namavali.
1. AUM SRI BHAGAWAN SATHYA SAI BABAYA NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sathya Sai Baba who manifests all the attributes of the Creator and is also our divine Father and Mother.
2. AUM SRI SAI SATHYA SWAROOPAAYA NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sathya Sai who is the very embodiment of the Supreme Truth of the Omniscience, Omnipresent and Omnipotence of God.
3. AUM SRI SAI SATHYA DHARMA PARAAYANAAYA NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sai who manifests the excellence of the Truth of this Divine glory and also of Righteousness or living, in thought, word and deed, in accordance with this Truth.
4. AUM SRI SAI VARADAAYA NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sai, the Giver of boons.
5. AUM SRI SAI SATPURUSHAAYA NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sathya Sai the Embodiment of Divinity.
6. AUM SRI SAI SATHYAGUNATMANE NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sai who manifests the true attributes of Divinity.
7. AUM SRI SAI SADHU VARDHANAAYA NAMAHA
Salutations to Sri Sai who inspires and helps people to develop goodness in the world.

Salutations to Sri Sai who looks after and supports good people.

Salutations to Sri Sai who is Omniscient.
